What are missed calls costing your practice?
Five numbers from your phone system and front desk. The answer is the new-patient revenue your practice loses to calls nobody picks up.
That is about $10,140 a month. Winning back just one new patient a week is worth $33,800 a year at your numbers.

Five numbers, multiplied
Calls a week × the share nobody answers gives missed calls. Of those, only new patients are counted, and only the ones who would have booked had someone picked up. That weekly figure × 52 weeks × a new patient’s first-year value is the yearly loss. Existing patients who give up on a reschedule are left out, so the result is on the low side.
Worked example, the calculator’s starting numbers: 150 calls a week with 20% missed is 30 missed calls. 30% are new patients and 40% of them would have booked: 3.6 patients a week, 187 a year. At $650 each, that is $121,680 a year.
That sits inside our own research estimate of $100,000–$150,000 a year per practice. Yours may be higher or lower; the inputs are yours, and the fastest way to find the real missed-call rate is to have someone call your practice at lunch and after hours, which is the first thing our free audit does.
Where to find your numbers:
- Calls a week and unanswered calls: your phone system’s call log or report.
- New-patient share: ask the front desk to tally a normal week.
- First-year value: your practice-management reports, new patients’ production in their first twelve months.
