The right Owner.com alternative depends on why you're looking. If it's the 5% fee guests pay on every order, your POS's own ordering is the usual answer. If it's design, a general builder plus that same ordering does it. If it's that nobody has time to run it, you need a person, not more software. And if Owner's price is the only worry, switching to its Flat plan above about $5,000 a month in online sales may solve it.
We have an interest: Gigabit sells restaurant marketing and websites, so Owner competes for the same budget. Prices and terms below come from Owner's pricing page and the other companies' own pages, read on 30 October 2026. We didn't test the products. Owner has real strengths, and we set out when it's the better buy.
What Owner costs, and who pays
Owner has two plans, with the same features. Flexible is $249 a month plus a 5% restaurant fee per order. Flat is $499 a month with no restaurant fee. On both, guests pay a 5% order support fee, which Owner says covers fulfillment and customer service. There's no long-term contract and no cancellation fee, and you can switch plans at any time.
Most comparisons stop at the subscription. The chart adds the guest fee, because a fee your guests pay is still part of what direct ordering costs them. The sales levels are examples, so use your own.
Two things stand out. The plans cost the same at $5,000 a month in online sales, which matches Owner's own advice to take Flat from that level. And the guest fee keeps growing with sales on either plan: $500 a month at $10,000 in online sales.
Is that fee a problem? It may not be. On a $32 order, it's $1.60. Owner points out that apps charge guests fees of up to 15%, and regulars moving from an app may never notice. It matters more if your pitch to regulars is that ordering direct is the cheaper way, or if your average order is high. Look at it next to the alternative on the same order:
| Owner: the guest pays a 5% fee | $1.60 |
| Owner Flexible: you pay a 5% fee | $1.60 |
| Owner Flat: you pay a per-order fee | $0.00 |
| Square Free: the guest pays a fee | $0.00 |
| Square Free: you pay card processing | $1.36 |
The alternatives, by reason for leaving
| Your reason | Look at | What you pay, as published | The trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| No fee on guests | Square ordering page | $0 plan; 3.3% + 30¢ per online card sale, paid by you | Only if you use Square; ask what an app would add |
| Keep a branded app and marketing | ChowNow | From $229 or $249 a month by billing; $119 to $499 setup; 2.95% + 29¢ per transaction | Page doesn't say who pays that fee, or what its "Profit Protector" does; ask |
| On Toast already | Toast Websites with Toast's ordering | Not confirmed: its product page refused to load | Website and ordering are separate products |
| On Clover already | BentoBox | No public price; ask Clover | Only for Clover POS customers |
| Better design, fewer features | Squarespace or Wix | Squarespace $12 to $25 a month paid annually; Wix varies by location | You do the updating |
| Nobody has time | A team, such as ours | Gigabit Growth, $599 a month | Costs more than Owner Flat, with ordering billed separately |

When Owner is the better buy
Stay, or start, with Owner if most of these are true:
- Your POS has no good ordering, and you'd otherwise need to stitch several products together.
- You want a branded app and loyalty without buying them separately. Both are on every Owner plan.
- You want it live fast. Owner says many restaurants launch within a week, with setup and migration included.
- Your guests accept a small fee. If regulars don't mind, the fee is what makes a low restaurant cost possible.
- You don't want a commitment. Month-to-month with no cancellation fee is a low-risk way to try it.
On price alone, it's hard to beat for what's in the box. Our Growth plan is $599 a month against $499 for Owner Flat, and ours has no app, loyalty or ordering software in it. What it has is a Gigabit team doing the work, Google profile and local SEO included, no per-order fee from us and no guest fee from us. Whether that's worth it depends on who has the time, not on the feature list.
If you do leave: check these first
Owner's pricing page doesn't say who holds your domain or what happens to your guest data, so get both answers in writing. Owner asks for your domain during setup, which makes this worth checking early.
- Who holds the domain, and how do I get it moved to my account?
- Can I export guest names, emails and phone numbers, with their consent records?
- What happens to loyalty balances, and how do I tell guests?
- What happens to the branded app and its listing?
- Are my menu, photos and page text mine to take?
- When do the Google profile's ordering and website links get changed, and who does it?
Then set your replacement live before you turn anything off, and redirect old page addresses so search engines and guests can still find you. The how-to guide has the launch checklist.
