The best Popmenu alternative is whichever covers the parts you actually use. Popmenu is a bundle, so write down what you use each week. If it's the website and ordering, your POS's ordering and a simple builder may cover it for less. If it's most of the bundle, Owner is the closest package, with published prices. If nobody has time to use any of it, look for a team instead.
Two things to know first. We have an interest: Gigabit sells restaurant marketing and competes for the same budget. And our evidence on Popmenu is thinner than on other companies, because its own website refused to load for us on 30 October 2026. Its prices below come from PricingSaaS, a site that tracks pricing pages, as captured on 6 July 2026. Its features come from a January article by Sauce, which sells a competing product. Check both on a call with Popmenu before you decide.
What Popmenu costs, as far as we can confirm
PricingSaaS also records an Enterprise tier and an AI Phone Answering add-on, both priced on request. Annual billing is 10% off. It noted that a $149 starting price for the phone add-on came off Popmenu's page in July, so don't budget from older numbers.
What we can't confirm: competing vendors' articles report a separate onboarding fee, a per-order charge passed to guests, and extra charges for added locations. Popmenu's own pages would settle this, and we couldn't read them. We don't repeat the figures for that reason. Ask for each of those three in writing, along with contract length and how to cancel.
Unbundle it: what each part could be replaced with
Sauce's article describes Popmenu's main parts as an SEO website, a page for each dish, ordering, AI phone answering, and email, text and social marketing. Go through that list and mark what you've used in the last month.
| The part you use | What could replace it | Published cost, read 30 Oct 2026 | What you lose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Website | Squarespace with its Menu block | $12 to $25 a month paid annually | You build and update it; no separate page per dish by default |
| Online ordering | Your POS's ordering, such as Square's | $0 plan, 3.3% + 30¢ per online card sale | Tied to that POS |
| Bookings | Squarespace's OpenTable block, if you use OpenTable | Included in the builder; OpenTable is a separate bill | Nothing, if you're already on it |
| Email and text | Square Plus | $49 a month per location; unlimited email, first 500 texts free, then 3¢ each | Campaign writing is yours to do |
| Reviews | A staff habit: our Google reviews guide | Free | Automation |
| Phone answering | Keep it, or a call-forwarding service | We couldn't confirm a price | This one's harder to replace if the phone really does ring through the rush |
| Squarespace Core, paid monthly | $27 a month |
| Square Plus (POS, ordering, email, first 500 texts, loyalty) | $49 a month |
| Software total, before card fees | $76 a month |
That's the honest limit of unbundling. It's cheaper on paper, but every line is another login and another job for you. If you use four or more parts of the bundle every week, the saving may not be worth the extra work.
If you still want a package
| Alternative | Published price | How it differs |
|---|---|---|
| Owner | $249 a month + 5% per order, or $499 a month; guests pay 5% | Closest bundle: site, ordering, app, loyalty, marketing, with no long-term contract. Our Owner page works through the fees |
| ChowNow | From $229 or $249 a month by billing; setup and per-transaction fees | Ordering-led, with a branded app and marketing tools |
| BentoBox | No public price | Only for Clover POS customers |
| SpotHopper | No public price | Marketing-led; links out for ordering. Our SpotHopper page has questions to ask |
When Popmenu is the better choice
- You really do use the bundle. Website, ordering, marketing and phone from one company, on one bill, is worth paying for if you'd otherwise run five logins.
- You want a page for each dish. A general builder won't give you that without a lot of hand work, and a dish page can match specific dish searches.
- The phone is a real problem. If calls go unanswered during service, an answering add-on could pay for itself. Get the price and a trial.
- You don't want an agency. If you'd rather run your own marketing with good tools, software suits you better than we do.
Where we fit, and where we don't
A Gigabit team runs your Google profile, reviews and listings from $299 a month. A website and local SEO come on Growth at $599, and email and text campaigns on Full Service at $999. That's more than Popmenu's published plans at each step, it has no phone answering, and ordering stays with your POS. What you're paying for is people doing the work and a plain monthly report. If you want software and have the time, stay with software.
Before you switch
Check your contract end date and notice period first, because we couldn't confirm Popmenu's terms. Keep your domain in your own name, take a copy of your menu, and export your guest list with consent records. Then redirect old dish and menu addresses to the new pages, so you keep any search traffic they've earned. The how-to guide has the launch checklist, and the free restaurant audit will tell you what's worth keeping.
