Shopify engineering, and the agents that run the store.
Store builds, migrations, custom apps and integrations on Shopify and Shopify Plus. Then the AI agents that answer customers and run the back office from live order data.
What Gigabit does on Shopify.
Gigabit builds, migrates and extends Shopify and Shopify Plus stores, and builds the AI agents that work inside them. The engineering covers themes, custom apps, checkout extensions and Functions, and the integrations that connect the store to the ERP, helpdesk and shipping tools around it.
The AI work sits on the same APIs. For a $12M home-goods brand on Shopify Plus, a support agent grounded in the live catalog and order data now resolves 64% of tickets with no human involved and saved $217,200 in its first year.
The Shopify work we take on.
Ordinary senior engineering first. The agents come after, on the same APIs.
Store builds and redesigns
Online Store 2.0 themes in Liquid with sections, blocks and metafields your team can edit, or a headless storefront on Hydrogen when design or performance needs more than a theme allows.
Migrations to Shopify
Catalog, customers, order history, redirects and SEO moved from WooCommerce, Magento, BigCommerce or a custom cart, with a rehearsed cutover and a rollback plan.
Custom apps
Private or public apps on the GraphQL Admin API, embedded in the admin, for the business logic no app-store listing covers.
Checkout and Functions
Checkout UI extensions and Shopify Functions for discount, shipping and payment rules, including rebuilding logic that stopped working when Shopify Scripts was retired on 30 June 2026.
Integrations
Two-way sync with ERP, helpdesk, shipping and marketing tools such as NetSuite, Gorgias, ShipStation and Klaviyo, with retries and reconciliation rather than a one-way push.
Support and operations agents
Agents that answer order, sizing and policy questions, start returns and route exceptions, acting through the same APIs your staff use and escalating when unsure.
Shopify ships an assistant. An agent that owns a workflow is still a build.
Know what you already have before paying anyone to build more.
Built into the platform
Shopify's own AI is aimed at the merchant sitting in the admin, and at making the catalog buyable from inside AI assistants.
- Sidekick, the assistant in the admin, answers questions about the store and carries out routine admin tasks.
- Agentic storefronts and Shopify Catalog put your products in front of AI shopping assistants.
- Catalog, Cart and Checkout MCP servers and the Universal Commerce Protocol let an outside agent search, build a cart and check out.
Agents that own an outcome
What the platform does not ship is an agent that is accountable for your support queue or your returns, grounded in your policies and wired into the rest of your stack.
- A support agent that replies on its own only above a confidence threshold, and hands over with its draft and context below it.
- Returns handled end to end: eligibility, label, confirmation and refund on delivery, across Shopify and the shipping and ERP systems.
- Product data cleaned and structured so the catalog reads correctly to shopping agents, not just to people.
- An evaluation set built from your historical tickets, run before launch and after every change.
Published prices, mapped to the job.
Every figure here is the same one on the pricing page. Nothing on this platform is quoted from a separate rate card.
A price marked “from” buys the base scope set out on the pricing page. Anything larger is quoted as a fixed price before work starts. Work with no natural end, such as ongoing development, is priced per engineer per month with no lock-in.
When Shopify is the right call, and when it is not.
- You want to sell, not run servers. Hosting, checkout security and scaling are Shopify's job.
- Your catalog and checkout rules fit the platform, or fit it with Functions and one custom app.
- You expect to add channels: point of sale, wholesale, marketplaces or more countries.
- The checkout or data model has to work in a way Shopify does not expose, even on Plus.
- Your volume makes platform, payment and app fees cost more than owning the stack. Run that number before you move.
- The product is really a configurator or a quoting tool with a store attached. That is a custom build.
How an AI Support Agent Saved a D2C Brand $218K Per Year — and Made Their Customers Happier
A confidence-gated support agent, grounded in a 420-SKU Shopify catalog and live order data, tested against 2,000 historical tickets before it answered a customer.
Questions Shopify teams ask
How much does Shopify development cost with Gigabit?
A new Shopify store starts at $9,000 fixed, which covers a custom theme, up to 500 products, payments, shipping, tax and up to three integrations. Shopify Plus, headless and B2B builds are quoted higher, as a fixed price. A migration to Shopify starts at $7,000 fixed. One scoped integration or workflow is $8,000 fixed over three weeks, a production AI agent is a flat fee from $8,000, and ongoing development is an embedded pod at $3,000–$7,500 per engineer per month.
Can you migrate our store to Shopify without losing search traffic?
We plan for it: every old URL is mapped to a new one with a 301 redirect, titles, descriptions and structured data are carried over, the cutover is rehearsed on a copy, and Search Console is watched for crawl errors afterwards. No one can promise rankings will not move during a platform change. The redirect map is what limits the damage.
What can an AI agent actually do on a Shopify store?
In one production deployment the agent answers order-status, sizing, returns, discount and shipping questions from live store data, and can start a return, generate a label, apply a discount code or update an address, each with the customer's confirmation. It replies on its own only when it is confident and routes everything else to a person.
Our Shopify Scripts stopped working. Can you rebuild them?
Yes. Shopify retired Scripts on 30 June 2026 in favour of Shopify Functions. We rebuild discount, shipping and payment logic as Functions, test it against real carts, and document the rules so the next change does not need an engineer to decode them. We quote it as a fixed price once we have read the old scripts.
Do you work with Shopify Plus?
Yes. Both of our published commerce case studies are Shopify Plus merchants, one at $12M and one at $28M in annual revenue.
Is Gigabit a Shopify Partner?
Yes. Gigabit is a Shopify Partner. The partner programme gives us development stores and platform access; it is not a claim that Shopify endorses our work.
